"Baking Bread" on Momversation.com

Recently I was invited to help tell "my story" on an episode of HerStory, located on the website www.momversation.com. I chose to talk about the challenge of finding and feeding my family foods without all the chemicals and additives they now add to make food last longer... and most particularly in bread! We've been making all of our own bread for about 7 months now. I was initially amazed at how easy it was, and am continually amazed at how easy the habit has been to keep up. I'm thrilled that momversation.com chose to include this as part of their new segment. I hope that it simply encourages other moms to be aware of what is in the food that we purchase at the store. And it would also be exciting to see if it encourages some moms to try baking their own bread!   1. I've been baking up a storm over here ever since I first found your blog! This fresh bread is highly addictive, I think store bread tastes gross now and if I DO have to buy it I only get the bakery kind cause at least is closer to the good stuff. Thanks for inspiring me!

  3. Hi Lora. Thanks so much. I bookmarked a few of the other blogs that you liked as well. It's fun to share other great mom-blogs! And I'm so glad that the bread making is part of your routine. It's second nature around here now and never seems like a "task"... just part of our day once or twice a week! Have you tried the pizza dough yet? Yum!!

    I just wanted to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for this. Since I've watched this video I have baked 7 loaves of bread (in 2 weeks) using your recipe. I bake loaves for all of my friends. My daughter loves it. Her friends love it.

    The last loaf of "good bread" I bought was $6. For $12 and some change, I can bake enough bread for 2 months, at least.

  6. Hi Giyen. I love your website - you have such an amazing sense of humor and a true talent for writing. I'm so glad that you are having luck with the bread! I am working on perfecting bagels. I know everyone thinks you can't make them without "the water" (which, by the way, I think "the water" must be better on Long Island, because their bagels far outweigh the really good Manhattan bagels) but I'm convinced it's in the technique and eating them while they are fresh. But I LOVE the mini bagels that you found - I'll have to visit that place the next time I'm in the city. And here's a thought... what about a meet-up for blogging foodies? We could do some serious (bank account) damage in a city like NYC. ;0)

    I originally saw the momversation piece and had been waiting for the summer heat to pass before trying your bread recipe- and yesterday the time had come. I followed your instructions to the letter. DELICIOUS! And so simple! Easy peasy. I'll definitely be baking more and experimenting with my mixer.
